Taking time to relax should be a priority of any healthy lifestyle. A quick breather from the daily grind can help lower blood pressure levels, lower the hormone cortisol that affects fat and carbohydrate metabolism, and improve overall mental health.

Quick ways to relax that can make a big difference!

*As soon as you wake up in the morning, while still lying down, grab one knee and bring towards your chest. -Hold for 5 seconds while inhaling and exhaling. Repeat with other knee. -Grab both knees to your chest and rock yourself to a seated position. Take 3 deep breaths. -On your last exhale, stretch arms above head and hold stretch for 10 seconds while inhaling and exhaling.

*When driving, use every stop light as a chance to take 3-5 deep breaths and let you mind release any stress that has been on your mind. Every time you see a red light, remind yourself to “Stop and relax.”
